The Legacy of Paramount Chief Kinyanjui
P.C. Kinyanjui Technical Training Institute was founded in 1979 as a Technical Secondary School with an initial enrolment of 160 students.
The vision to establish the Technical School was borne by His Excellency, the late Mzee Jomo Kenyatta, the First President of the Republic of Kenya. Local community elders donated parcels of land that were consolidated in 1958 as trust land and reserved for the development of Kinyanjui Memorial High School in honour of the late Paramount Chief Kinyanjui wa Gathirimu, who reigned between 1893 and 1929 in this region.
At its inception, the institute offered artisan and craft certificate training to standard eight and form four school leavers under the 8.4.4. system. Over the decades, PCKTTI has evolved into an accredited premier national TVET institute training over 2,800 students across 67 accredited diploma, certificate, and CBET curricula.
